The Inevitable Future of Hiring
We’re at the verge of discovering what truly Artificial Intelligence is capable of, and there is no better time than today to learn and use it at our advantage.
What does this mean for the future of hiring? Having spent over a year immersed in the industry, I’ve seen two sides of the story: one of unprecedented opportunity and another of significant challenges.
Applicants
From an applicant’s perspective, many trends are emerging where AI is the centre of discussion! However let’s face the challenge first and foremost: Ghosting
No Response At All
Applicant are getting nothing — It’s as simple as that! It’s becoming increasingly common and is, frankly, unacceptable. Imagine pouring hours into applications, crafting the perfect resume, writing hundreds of cover letters, and responding to endless questions, only to hear…. nothing!
For many this is the reality of job hunting.
Who’s to Blame?
Do these frustrations mean that talent professionals are to blame? Not necessarily. In 90% of cases, they’re not the “bad guys.” Instead, systemic inefficiencies and outdated processes are at the root of the issue.
How AI can make CV ATS-Safe?
As more applicants understand how their CVs are parsed by Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS), they’re leveraging AI to refine their resumes to match job descriptions. It’s as simple as uploading your CV to ChatGPT, pasting the job description, and asking it to generate an ATS-safe version. In just minutes, you have a polished CV ready to stand out in the system. This is just a game on how well we can cheat the system. Two years ago, only a few selected know the rules, today anyone can use a GPT.
Apply to multiple jobs thanks to AI
They say, “The more, the merrier.” And when it comes to job applications, AI makes that easier than ever. With tools to help tailor resumes and cover letters in seconds, job seekers can apply to multiple positions faster and more efficiently than ever before.
Talent Professional
So, what’s happening on the other side? After speaking with countless talent professionals, I can confidently say they’re the unsung heroes of the hiring process. These are people-oriented individuals who genuinely care about matching the right talent with the right roles. But here’s the problem: they’re overwhelmed. They don’t have the tools or the capacity to handle the sheer volume of applications coming their way — it’s humanly impossible!
Is it true all the time? Not really, however we only hear about the ‘bad’ ones and trust me, they are less than the 10%.
What is AI causing to the talent lifecycle?
From an employer perspective, it’s becoming absolute chaos. Applications are pouring in faster than ever, and the resources to manage them are limitd. Imagine a single talent professional tasked with reviewing over 100 applications for a single role. It’s not wondeer things fall through the cracks!
Would AI help to screen CV better?
Maybe. But here’s a bigger question: Why are we still relying on the CV — A document invented during the Renaissance — more than HALF a millenium ago? Think about it: this outadet tool has had little to no meaningul upgrades since its inception. Clearly, there’s a depper issue at play!
How can I use AI to help me out?
The key isn’t just using AI for the sake of it — it’s about rethinking the process. What parts of your workflow can be automated to free up your time for what truly matters: the human side of hiring? AI can handle repetitive, time-consuming tasks like sorting and screening applications, allowing you to focus on building relationships and assessing candidates more meaningfully.
